Doing as we please…

There is a constant relationship between events in that, similar causes always produce similar consequences.  War must result in war, not peace…  Then why must we say this lower destiny is essentially benevolent?  If war must always produce war, then it is eternal in itself.  This, we do not wish to believe.

If every mistake we make results in a catastrophe from which we have learned nothing and about which we make no thoughtful consideration, then the viscous cycle of circumstances will go on indefinitely.

We like to hope that we can do as we please and that all will come out well.  This is possible only in a person so enlightened that what he pleased to do is the greatest good for himself and everyone else.  Until this is the basis of his pleasure, pleasure will alternate with displeasure down through time.

  1. I have found that doing the greatest good for all concerned does not always appear without some growing pains. In the end, the results show each was better off since the intent came from a place of to do no harm.
