The Choice
We feed the spirits we keep
I can see it clearly in others
If I could be so empowered to see it in myself
I could distinguish my own spirits
I could feed the chosen ones

I must become conscious of the energies that move me time and time again.
The energies are not my identity, but a projection of my interpretation of these energies.
I am choice
forever at the crossroads.
That is my identity.
Preservation implies an inevitable ending.
Renewal implies adapting.
To preserve is to serve something before it exists, such as death.
To renew is to make it new again of course.
Preservation is as relevant as we wish it to be and will likely be fought for. It is a concept born of the avoidance of death rather than the pursuit of life. This is not a matter of fact, but a matter of choice and perspective given the main variable is our own self.
Identity is much like time. We do not know how to exist without it, but it only serves as a limitation to our free will. A truly free person is not bound by any identity that would restrict their choices or perception. They would know no insecurity, have no face to save and nothing to prove. At any given point, they could choose to be anything with the awareness that they are nothing, namely the vessel they reside in which all of their peers seem to identify each other with.
And if the only beings
who had a choice of what to become
rejected the gift of free will
and the misery of transformation
there would only be darkness
despite the burning sun

of our own will…
We all have a reason for everything we do. We may not wish to realize that we are not dictated by the reason, but the truth is that it is chosen amongst many. Realizing this extent of free will implies great personal responsibility of ones behavior, state of mind, and situation. We are not victims and we choose our adventure here.
Free will is the ability/responsibility to choose. It is not something that we have or have not, but something that is always there to varying degrees. Choices are realized through awareness. These choices are enabled or hindered by situational variables. These situational variables are very much a product of choices made in the past. The variable that determines the choices made is self awareness. This is because most of what we choose is based on who we believe ourselves to be. Think; “what would I do in any given situation” and you will see that it depends on who you understand yourself to be. Therefore, it matters less to the well being of the situation, how many choices you have to choose from, than it does the ability to discern between those choices. Focusing on self awareness seems to be the optimal way to bring about a collective existence which is capable of making better choices than our current model.
This process of awareness – self awareness – choice – result is much the same as a computer application that is designed to process data. The application will become aware of the data, whatever the data may be, and process that data based on the programming of the application. After the data has been processed, it will then become aware of the result of the processed data and continue the cycle. One major difference between us and a computer application is that with ourselves, we can upgrade the application, as the application, with self awareness. The problem is that our current applications are so busy and overwhelmed with processing corrupt data that it tries to upgrade and change the data to fit the application, which is backwards. We must put our efforts into upgrading our application rather than blaming the current data which is a result of how the application has processed that data previously.
First there is a degree of awareness to the situation. This awareness brings potential choices. No choice is cared to be made until there is a degree of self awareness. Then the choice is made which generates a result. We become aware of this result and based on who we are, we make more choices which generate more results to be aware of. If we are dissatisfied with the results, we must look within ourselves for the solution.
Awareness: I see
Self Awareness: I am
Choice: I choose
Result: I experience
